Makes 2 pizzas

Pizza Sauce

  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger

  • 1 1/2 cups sliced Chinese barbequed pork or shredded roasted chicken
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/8 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder

  • Two 9-inch cooked pizza crusts
  • 3 fresh shiitake mushrooms, stems discarded, caps thinly sliced
  • 1/2 red bell pepper, seeded and thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (1/4 pound)

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. To make pizza sauce, combine all the ingredients in a small bowl and mix well. Set aside.
  3. In a bowl, combine the pork, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, and five-spice powder. Stir to coat pork evenly.
  4. Spread half of the pizza sauce on each crust. Top each with half of the mushrooms, bell pepper, meat and cilantro. Sprinkle half of the cheese over each pizza.
  5. Place the topped crusts on an aluminum foil-lined rimmed baking sheet. Bake until the cheese is bubbly, about 10 minutes. Transfer the pizzas to a cutting board, cut into wedges, and serve.
