|Day 1||12/14||Departure from San Francisco to Chengdu.|
|Day 2||12/15||Early evening arrival. Leisure dinner at the hotel.|
|Day 3||12/16||A full day tour of historical and modern Chengdu that begins at the Three Kingdoms Museum, followed by a trip to the historical old town where local artists display their crafts. A leisure stroll along Chengdu’s famous ‘Wide and Narrow Alleys’, where street food and other colorful activities are always on display. Lunch at a popular hot pot restaurant, followed by a tea performance. An afternoon visit to the Chengdu historical museum. Dinner at an iconic Chengdu restaurant.|
|Day 4||12/17||It’s a spicy day today. Morning visit to the world’s biggest (and smelliest) spice market. Drop by the famous town of Pixian where chili bean paste making is more a passion than a vocation. Enjoy a cooking class and dinner banquet, where bean paste is the key ingredient.|
|Day 5||12/18||Be our guests at the opening ceremony of the 15th Chengdu Food Tourism Festival and lunch. Visit the famous Tang Dynasty poet Du Fu’s residence and Temple of Marquis (Han Zhaolie Temple) – the national key cultural relics conservation units, National AAAA Tourism Scenic spot, and National First-Class Museum. Enjoy the dinner at Sangu Garden for classic Sichuan cuisine and get to know more about the culture of the three Kingdoms of China, followed by the night tour to Jinli Street, shopping, leisure, and entertainment.|
|Day 6||12/19||Venture outside Chengdu and visit the historical Leshan Giant Buddha, one of Sichuan’s top tourist destinations and the largest stone Buddha in the world (a UNESCO World Heritage site). Taste the tofu banquet at a local restaurant, followed by an afternoon visit to a nearby panda rehab center – a unique opportunity to see these adorable national treasures of China.|
|Day 7||12/20||Water is the theme today as we visit historical Dujiangyan, the ancient water divergence system that prevented floods and in essence, created Chengdu. In an afternoon culinary session, learn how to make Sichuan’s famous pickled vegetables.|
|Day 8||12/21||Depart Chengdu on your return flight home.|
